Can I wear a steel band ring for prom?

I mean not as a wedding ring but as an accessory. I'm thinking of buying one but to not make myself look bling and gangster for prom but to show some classiness because it is a formal social gathering. Just wanted to get your opinion on them and if they would suit with a shiny dark grey suit. Thanks a lot! :D
